My Tips for Healthy and Happy Skin

Murad Skin Smoothing Polish

For the most part I’m happy with my skin, but like everyone else, I’m constantly working towards smoother, more radiant skin. I’m a firm believer in a combination of topical treatments and eating right for giving beautiful skin that special glow.

Shifts in the season always seem to make my skin a tad sensitive, so it’s times like now when I try to be extra disciplined. Check out some of my tips below the jump!

1. Stay hydrated with water. I can’t stress enough how critical this is, especially before and after working out. Key word is water. Sports drinks and juices don’t cut it when it comes to straight-up hydration.

2. Leafy greens and colorful veggies. I like to think of my skin as an outward indicator of inward health. The more colorful your plate is, the more vitamins you’re feeding your skin. Leafy greens, especially darker ones, offer essential nutrients and pack a surprising amount of protein. My favorite way to get in quality foods is by drinking a green smoothie for breakfast. Check out this recipe if you need pointers!

3. Invest in a skincare cleansing tool. I’ve really found that I use less product and that the smoothness and clarity of my skin have significantly improved by doing so. I’ve been using the Clarisonic for years, but I’m testing out the FOREO Luna, and so far I’m really loving it. Keep an eye out for my official review!

4. Exfoliate once or twice a week. They key here is not to go overboard. I used to exfoliate three or four times a week, but now I know that my skin gets irritated if I don’t just stop at once per week.

For a gentle exfoliation, my skin is loving the Murad Skin Smoothing Polish ($30 US). First off, it smells lightly fruity in the most delicious way. It’s super creamy as well, with very fine exfoliant granules, banishing the possibility of dry skin. I like the clarifying effect it has on the blackheads around my nose and the comfortable (not a tight, squeaky-clean) feel of my skin afterwards.

What are some of your skin care tips and tricks? Have you tried any of Murad’s exfoliators?
